31 July 2000
AGE-NC Project No 97-0249
with bottled water for laboratory analysis for ethanol The laboratory analysis detected
dissolved ethanol at a concentration of 22,000,ug/l Thereafter,AGE requested MSDS sheets
from Sinclair Services, as well as other industry bentonite pellet manufacturers from Colloid
Environmental Technologies Co (CETCO) and Polymer Dnllmg Systems (Pel-Plug) The
MSDS sheets from all three bentonite pellet manufacturers listed ethyl alcohol and ethyl
acetate on the bentonite coating
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data collected during May 2000, AGE recommends
• Installation of additional ground water monitoring wells south, southwest, west, northwest,
north and northeast of the current area bound by wells MW-1 through MW-6 to assess the
lateral extent of the dissolved petroleum hydrocarbon plume (See Figure 2)
• Installation of additional soil bonngs north, south, east and west of the current area bound
+ by wells MW-1 through MW-6 to assess the lateral extent of the adsorbed petroleum
hydrocarbon plume
Continued quarterly ground water monitoring, the next quarterly ground water monitoring
event is tentatively scheduled for August 2000
Continued utilization of wells MW-1 through MW-6 for characterization of ground water
conditions at the site
• Continued coordinated quarterly ground water sampling events with Flag City Chevron
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic/hydro-
geologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number
of available data points(e g ground water samples), and subsurface conditions may vary away from
these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional
recommendations contained in this report
0
Advanced GeoEnvwonmental,Inc
