% �. <br /> identified strata from the bottom of the casing at a minimum of 10 gallons per <br /> minute using a submersible pump and discharge hose. The hose and pump <br /> shall be of such a design and constructed of such materials that they do not <br /> contaminate the water sample being taken. After each aquifer is sampled, <br /> the screen shall be pulled up to the next aquifer, packed with gravel pack, <br /> and pumped until the sample is relatively clear or for a minimum of an hour <br /> I` before the next sample is pulled. This process shall be repeated <br /> successively until all identified aquifers have been sampled. <br /> C. The samples shall be marked as required and delivered to the City for <br /> testing. The City expects to take at least 10 working days before it will <br /> decide, in consultation with the Contractor, which aquifers require screening. <br /> c <br /> 1. The City desires to use the above-specified sampling procedure. <br /> Alternative methods may be considered if the Contractor offers a credit <br />�- or if benefits can be demonstrated by the Contractor to the City from the <br /> use of an alternative method. <br /> 2. MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: Full compensation for conforming to <br /> these requirements, including all the labor, materials, tools, equipment, <br /> incidentals, and for doing all the work involved in the method described <br /> above, as specified in the Standard Specifications, these special 2� <br /> provisions, and as directed by the Engineer, shall be considered as <br /> included in the prices paid for the various contract items of work involved <br /> and no additional compensation will be allowed. No pre-authorization of <br /> alternative methods will be given. L <br /> 3.08 CASING INSTALLATION <br /> A. Field assembly of Production Well casing shall be by welding. All welding <br /> shall be done in accordance with the specifications of the American Welding <br /> Society, and welders used on the job shall be qualified in accordance with <br /> the latest revision of the AWS Standard Qualification Procedure. <br /> B. Field assembly of Nested Monitoring Well casing shall be by using threaded <br /> -*e segments with 0-ring seals. <br /> C. Well Casing and Screen: <br /> 1. The well bore shall be constructed to the dimensions required by these <br /> Specifications or as modified after review of the Contractor's pilot hole <br /> report. with screen sections located as shown <br /> 2. Well casing shall be assembled <br /> on the drawings or as directed by the Engineer following receipt of the <br /> Contractor's pilot hole report. Total length of casing, screen and closure i <br /> piece shall be subject to approval by the Engineer. <br /> 3. Well casing installation shall be by methods that will insure no damage to i <br /> the hole or casing. The top of the well casings shall extend 2 feet above i <br /> ground level. <br /> Division III-23 <br />
