% �. identified strata from the bottom of the casing at a minimum of 10 gallons per minute using a submersible pump and discharge hose. The hose and pump shall be of such a design and constructed of such materials that they do not contaminate the water sample being taken. After each aquifer is sampled, the screen shall be pulled up to the next aquifer, packed with gravel pack, and pumped until the sample is relatively clear or for a minimum of an hour I` before the next sample is pulled. This process shall be repeated successively until all identified aquifers have been sampled. C. The samples shall be marked as required and delivered to the City for testing. The City expects to take at least 10 working days before it will decide, in consultation with the Contractor, which aquifers require screening. c 1. The City desires to use the above-specified sampling procedure. Alternative methods may be considered if the Contractor offers a credit �- or if benefits can be demonstrated by the Contractor to the City from the use of an alternative method. 2. MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: Full compensation for conforming to these requirements, including all the labor, materials, tools, equipment, incidentals, and for doing all the work involved in the method described above, as specified in the Standard Specifications, these special 2� provisions, and as directed by the Engineer, shall be considered as included in the prices paid for the various contract items of work involved and no additional compensation will be allowed. No pre-authorization of alternative methods will be given. L 3.08 CASING INSTALLATION A. Field assembly of Production Well casing shall be by welding. All welding shall be done in accordance with the specifications of the American Welding Society, and welders used on the job shall be qualified in accordance with the latest revision of the AWS Standard Qualification Procedure. B. Field assembly of Nested Monitoring Well casing shall be by using threaded -*e segments with 0-ring seals. C. Well Casing and Screen: 1. The well bore shall be constructed to the dimensions required by these Specifications or as modified after review of the Contractor's pilot hole report. with screen sections located as shown 2. Well casing shall be assembled on the drawings or as directed by the Engineer following receipt of the Contractor's pilot hole report. Total length of casing, screen and closure i piece shall be subject to approval by the Engineer. 3. Well casing installation shall be by methods that will insure no damage to i the hole or casing. The top of the well casings shall extend 2 feet above i ground level. Division III-23
