MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: Full compensation for conforming to <br /> these requirements, including all the labor, materials, tools, equipment, <br /> incidentals, and for doing all the work involved in drilling and installing the <br /> casing, as specified in the Standard Specifications, these special provisions, <br /> — <br /> and as directed by the Engineer, shall be considered as included in the <br /> prices paid for the various contract items of work involved and no additional <br /> compensation wilt be allowed. <br /> J <br /> 3.09 GRAVEL PACK PLACEMENT . <br /> A. General: Gravel placement procedures shall be appropriate to the reverse <br /> rotary drilling method. Gravel shall be placed in a manner that will prevent <br /> segregation and will fill the annular space completely. Gravel shall be <br /> disinfected in accordance with AVWVA A100— Section 4.9. <br /> 1. A tremie pipe or tube shall be used to place gravel. It shall be of <br /> sufficient length to reach the bottom of the gravel pack location and it <br /> should be easily maneuverable to allow raising to match the gravel level <br /> as gravel is placed. Rate of adding gravel to the well shall not exceed a <br /> vertical rise of 1-112 feet per minute. <br /> 2. During placement of the gravel in the annular space, calcium <br /> hypochlorite in tablet or granular form shall be added to the gravel at a <br /> uniform rate of two tablets per cubic foot of gravel or one pound of <br /> granular form per cubic yard of gravel. Other methods of gravel <br /> disinfection must be approved by the Engineer. <br /> 3. Before the gravel packing operation begins, the Contractor shall make <br /> adequate preparations to ensure that circulation in the well will be <br /> continuous. The Contractor will not be allowed to stop circulation from 1 <br /> the time that gravel placement begins until the time when the gravel r <br /> pack is completely in place. The Contractor shall also make adequate `-' <br /> areparation in terms of gravel stockpile and gravel handling equipment to <br /> ensure uninterrupted feed. After the gravel is in place, circulation and <br /> water jetting shall continue in stages until gravel is consolidated and <br /> cleared. <br /> 4. A careful record shall be kept of the amount of gravel added during <br /> placement and consolidation. The total quantity of gravel placed in the . <br /> annular space during placement and development shall be at least as <br /> great as the calculated volume of the annular space. <br /> B.
