V <br /> roundness survey and capping shall all be completed in the period of one <br /> work shift. <br /> �. B. At all times during the progress of the construction, the Contractor shall <br /> protect the wells in such a manner that effectively prevents tampering with <br /> the well and/or the entrance of foreign matter into the well. Upon completion <br /> of the well project, the Contractor shall weld a '/-inch steel plate on the end <br /> of each casing to the finished elevation shown on the Drawings. <br /> 1. MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: Full compensation for conforming to <br /> `r these requirements, including all the labor, materials, tools, equipment, <br /> incidentals, and for doing all the work involved in final disinfection and <br /> capping, as specified in the Standard Specifications, these special <br /> provisions, and as directed by the Engineer, shall be considered as <br /> included in the prices paid for the various contract items of work involved <br /> and no additional compensation will be allowed. <br /> 3.16 TESTING FOR PLUMBNESS AND ALIGNMENT <br /> A. General: The drilled and cased wells shall be tested for alignment prior to <br /> acceptance. The Contractor may also make additional tests as the well and <br /> casing are being constructed if he determines it will aid in his control of the <br /> La work. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, tools and equipment and shall <br /> make the tests in accordance with the provisions of AWWA Standard A100, <br /> Section 5.1 and 5.2 to the satisfaction of the Engineer. The well shall <br /> Iwo conform to tolerances indicated in AWWA Standard A100, paragraph 4.7.9. <br /> B. Drift Indicator {Plumbness} Survey: A mechanical drift indicator shall be run <br /> 6W in the completed well pilot hole for the Production Well and the completed <br /> well bore for the Nested Monitoring Well and the drift determined at intervals <br /> of 50 feet of depth throughout the total depth of the hole. if a deflection of <br /> ... less than one degree is indicated, the well shall be deemed in proper <br /> plumbness and alignment. If any reading taken indicates a deflection from <br /> vertical exceeding one degree, the Contractor shall immediately notify the <br /> rr Engineer. The mechanical drift indicator surveys shall be analyzed by the <br /> Contractor and the Engineer. If, in the opinion of the Engineer, the alignment <br /> is not acceptable, the Contractor will be required to correct the alignment of <br /> �.. the well, or abandon the well and drill another well at his expense. The <br /> Contractor may perform an alignment survey on the drilled, uncased hole at <br /> his expense. <br /> C. Roundness Survey: A survey shall be performed on the completed wells to <br /> determine the roundness. Roundness shall be proven by passing a 40-foot- <br /> long dummy through the entire length of the well. The dummy that is used <br /> shall consist of a rigid spindle with a minimum of three truly cylindrical rings, <br /> each ring being a minimum of 12 inches wide.
