Sample Preservative and <br /> 5. Sampler's Initials. <br /> The sample labels will be placed on the bottles so as not to obscure any QA/QC data. Field <br /> identification must be sufficient to allow easy cross-reference with the field logbook. <br /> 3.5.2 Handling and Shipping <br /> The labeled and sealed sample containers will be placed in plastic bags (e.g., Ziploc®bags) <br /> and sealed. Glass containers will be wrapped in bubble wrap before being placed in the <br /> sealed plastic bag. Bagged sample containers will be placed in the bottom of the cooler and <br /> arranged so that they do not touch. Bagged sample containers will be packed between double <br /> plastic-bagged ice and additional packing material to prevent breakage. Samples will be <br /> placed so as to maintain a temperature of approximately 4°C +2 degrees during shipment. <br /> Chain-of-Custody Records will be sealed in plastic bags and taped to the inside of the cooler <br /> lid. <br /> The lid of the cooler will be taped shut and sealed with two custody seals. Samples shall be <br /> shipped directly to the laboratory by overnight courier on the day they were collected. The <br /> laboratory will be notified by phone or by FAX of the sample shipment schedule, air bill <br /> number, and arrival time. Samples will be shipped to the laboratory within a time frame to <br /> allow for extraction and analysis to be performed within acceptable holding times.
