The plan was prepared in response to
Regional Water Board correspondence dated 17 April 2000 requesting the City of Escalon to improve
the groundwater monitoring network at the City owned wastewater treatment plant. After reviewing the
workplan, I have the following comments:
• No discussion of groundwater flow direction is provided. Please review the available data to
confirm a westerly groundwater flow direction.
• Based on the available information on the groundwater flow direction, the proposed location of
Well MW-7 does not appear to be downgradient of any of the ponds and Well MW-6 is
downgradient of only Pond 12/20. Please relocate Well MW-7 to a location west of Pond No. 2;
move MW-5 to a location west of Pond 14/17; and move Well MW-6 to a location near the
southwest corner of Pond 19.
• Add a groundwater monitoring well to the location west of Pond 8.
The workplan is approved on the condition that the above comments are addressed in an addendum letter
to be submitted by 24 May 2000. If you have any questions on this conditional approval, please
telephone me at (916) 255-3116.
TIMOTHY R.
