f
Mr. Doug Stidham • - 2 - • 27 August 2001
• All of the surface aerators were operating 24-hours per day, 7-days per week. One aerator was out
of service for repairs.
• A substantial portion of Pond No. 9 was covered with duckweed. In addition, duckweed and
other floating water plants were around the mechanical aerators in Pond 6.
• The industrial wastewater evaporation/percolation ponds were generally in acceptable condition.
Several of the ponds had not yet received wastewater this year.
• The domestic wastewater evaporation/percolation ponds Nos. 21 and 24 contained a substantial
amount of floating plants and weeds. Normally this would be cited as a violation because
Discharge Specification B.8 requires adequate maintenance to prevent off-site odor nuisance, fly
breeding, or mosquito breeding. However, because the Mosquito Abatement District is satisfied
with the mosquitofish's control of mosquito populations, the weeds are acceptable at this time.
If you have any questions about this information, please telephone me at(916) 255-3116.
TIMOTHY R.
