4.0 LABORATORY SAMPLE ANALYSIS
4.1 Chemical Laboratory Analysis
California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified chemical laboratories will be utilized
for this project. Air-Toxics, Inc. of Folsom, California will be the primary laboratory for vapor
sample analyses. Kiff Analytical LLC will be the primary laboratory for water sample analysis.
The sampling program consists of groundwater sampling from the monitoring well and deep SVE
wells; active soil gas collected from soil borings during emplacement of the shallow and deep SVE
soil borings; and soil gas samples collected during operation of the pilot test treatment system.
Groundwater, field equipment blank, field duplicate, and trip blank samples will be analyzed for
VOCs using USEPA Test Method 826013. Soil gas samples will be analyzed for VOCs using
USEPA Method TO-15. Chemical analyses for each medium will be requested on chain-of-
custody forms provided by the laboratory. Laboratory reporting limits as described in the QAP
will be used. Field blank collection and laboratory QA/QC and procedures will be followed as
described in the QAP (Appendix 3).
4.2 Sample Containers
Groundwater sample containers will be provided by the laboratory or purchased from a laboratory
supplier prior to the sampling event. Only new containers will be used and they will not be rinsed
prior to sample collection. Preservatives, if required, will be added by the laboratory prior to
shipment. Forty-milliliter glass VOA vials will be used for groundwater sample collection and
Tedlar bags and Summa canisters will be used for vapor samples.
Environmental/LNC/Workplan/Appendix 2.wpd 10
