2.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This section of the workplan presents information regarding the proposed sampling activities,
analytical methods and parameters, data objectives, and related project decisions.
2.1 Analytical Scope
The proposed sampling activities include the collection and analysis of shallow groundwater, soil,
and pilot treatment system influent and effluent vapor samples. The groundwater and vapor samples
will be analyzed for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and the soil samples will be tested for
physical parameters such as moisture content and fraction of organic carbon. Details regarding the
number of samples to be collected and their locations are provided in the groundwater
characterization and feasibility study workplan. The Field Sampling Plan (FSP) provides
descriptions of the procedures to be used for sample collection and handling. The location of the
proposed groundwater monitoring well for groundwater sample collection is provided in Figure 11
and the locations for the soil vapor extraction wells are also provided in Figure 11.
2.2 Data Use
Decisions will be made based on data obtained from the sampling and analysis program. These data
will be used to further characterize the extent and degree of groundwater contamination and to
evaluate the performance of pilot testing for final design of the final soil remediation system. Data
collected through implementation of the QAPP are intended to satisfy RWQCB data quality
requirements.
Environmental/LNC/Workplan/Appendix3.wpd 2
