2.0 INTRODUCTION
2.1 Purpose
Stephen G. Muir Consulting Geologist& Geophysicist (Consultant) has prepared this work plan
for conducting a site characterization investigation and SVE Pilot Test Study at the Lustre-Cal
Nameplate Corp. (LNC) facility located at 110 East Turner Road in Lodi, California(Site). The
purpose of the expanded site characterization investigation is to further define the distribution of
chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the deeper portion of the vadose zone within
the subsurface beneath the Site. In addition, all information gathered by previous investigations
will be compiled and integrated into a Site Characterization Report. This information will be
used along with data obtained from a Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot Study to develop information
necessary to design an anticipated site soil remediation system.
This Workplan has been prepared with the following elements: (1)Field Sampling Plan (FSP);
(2) Quality Assurance Plan (QAP); (3) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); and(4) Health
and Safety Plan (HSP). The scope of work proposed in this described workplan will be
conducted in accordance with the FSP, QAP, SOPs and HSP.
2.2 Scope of Work
The scope of work includes the following elements:
(1) Soil boring and monitoring well permitting;
(2) Subsurface investigation which will supplement and corroborate past investigative results.
This will include exploratory soil boring and soil vapor sampling from depths deeper than the
2006 Geomatrix investigation. It is anticipated that four deep soil borings will be drilled and
completed as 2" soil vapor extraction (SVE) extraction/observation wells to depths of
M ain\D:AEnvironmenta1\LN CV\10152007.wpd 5
