6.0 SAMPLING PROCEDURES
This section describes the sampling and handling procedures that will be followed for each
sampling event to produce data of sufficient quality for its intended use.
6.1 Field Procedures
Specific field procedures have been developed that will be employed during implementation of
the field program. These procedures have been selected to produce data of high integrity for data
evaluation. The field procedures are described in the FSP.
6.2 Sample Containers, Preservation, and Holding Times
Table 1 lists the required sample containers, preservatives, and recommended maximum holding
times for samples. Sample containers provided by the laboratory will be purchased from VWR
International, SKC-West, or other equivalent source.
6.3 Sample Handling and Storage
Each sample container will be marked in the field with the sampling location number, date, and
time of sample collection. All aqueous containers will be cleaned of debris and securely packed
in an ice-chilled cooler for transport to the laboratory. Vapor sample containers will be stored
away from light sources to maintain sample integrity.
Upon receipt of the samples, the laboratory will immediately notify the Field Manager if
conditions or problems that require immediate resolution are identified. Such conditions
included container breakage, missing or improper chain-of-custody forms, exceeded holding
times, missing or illegible sample labeling, or exceedance of acceptable temperature.
Environmental/LNC/Workplan/Appendix3.wpd 16
