nature and extent of the remaining soil contaminant mass in the subsurface and the estimated
horizontal extent of groundwater contamination in the first groundwater zone; (7) Generation of
a Site Conceptual Model of the soil and groundwater contamination at the site; and (8)
Conclusions and recommendations. A digital copy of the report and all figures and tables will be
provided in a .pdf image format to the RWQCB.
6.6.2 Remediation Feasibility Study
This section discusses the Remediation Feasibility Study(RFS)methodology that will be
implemented. This technical scope of work contained in the site assessment work plan has been
formulated to identify and map the location of any VOC impacted areas believed to be present in
the vadose-zone soil (<60 feet bgs)beneath the LNC site.
The Remediation Feasibility Study will include the following elements:
• Identify and evaluate appropriate standards
• Develop remedial action objectives
• Identify remedial action alternatives
• Evaluate remedial action alternatives and select preferred alternatives
These tasks will be generally consistent with NCP requirements and The Guidance for
Conducting Remedial Investigations and Feasibility Studies Under CERCLA (USEPA, 1988)
(RDFS Guidance).
Identify and Evaluate Appropriate Standards
This portion of the Remediation Feasibility Study will identify and evaluate the appropriate
federal, state, and local standards used to assess the ability of various alternatives to achieve the
remedial action objectives. Standards will be evaluated with respect to their applicability to the
site and the level of protectiveness required to satisfy remedial action objectives.
M ain\D:AEnvironmenta1\LN CV\10152007.wpd 43
