Shallow Test(<25 feet bgs)
To test the viability of the remediation of soil contamination in the shallow vadose zone (<25 feet
bgs, above the "A" Clay) a soil vapor extraction(SVE)pilot test will be conducted focusing on
the 15 to 25-foot depth interval in the previously identified four areas (A to D). All shallow SVE
wells will be used for the shallow pilot test program.
The shallow pilot test well layout has been designed to cover shallow source area contamination near
Areas A,B, C and the former Concrete Tank(Figure 11). In addition portions of the area where the
LNC building footprint is located may have two to four additional shallow soil gas wells to ensure
that all of the shallow subsurface beneath the LNC building will be addressed in the pilot test. The
overall layout of shallow SVE wells is intended to provide data along the axis of the presumed
location of the VOC groundwater plume.
Shallow zone Pilot test wells are proposed in four (4) separate areas (Figure 11). The SVE
treatment system is planned to be located in the southern portion of the LNC property(Figure 11).
Deep Test(35 to 50 feet bgs)
To test the viability of the remediation of soil contamination in the deep vadose zone (below the
"A" Clay) a soil vapor extraction(SVE)pilot test will be conducted focusing on the 35 to 50
foot depth interval in the four areas of previously identified significant VOC soil contamination.
All deep SVE wells will be used for the deep pilot test program.
The deep zone SVE pilot test well layout has been designed to cover deep zone source area
contamination near Areas A,B,C and the former Concrete Tank(Figure 11). The overall layout of
deep zone SVE wells is intended to provide data along the axis of the presumed location of the VOC
groundwater plume.
M ain\D:AEnvironmentaI\LN CV\10152007.wpd 50
