8.0 HEALTH AND SAFETY
The health and safety plan (HSP) has been written for work to be conducted by Stephen G. Muir
Consulting Geologist& Geophysicist and associated contractors who will work at the LNC Site.
Appendix 5 of this workplan presents the site specific HSP. The HSP contains general
information that applies to the site and associated activities. It includes the project description,
personnel responsibilities, site hazards, personal protective equipment (PPE), air monitoring
guidelines, site control, decontamination procedures, and an emergency response plan. The HSP
also defines the specific field activities and team members.
The HSP meets the requirements of Sections 1509 and 3203 of Title 8 of the California Code of
Regulations. These regulations require that employees be familiar with the potential hazards of
the work they perform and the precautions that must be taken to protect against these hazards. As
required by these regulations, the HSP must be kept onsite during all field activities. In addition,
these regulations require that personnel who work under this plan read the HSP. Each employee
working under this addendum must sign Attachment 1 of the HSP document, indicating that they
have read and agree to follow the HSP.
The site safety coordinator(SSC)responsible for implementing this plan must be familiar with
these SOPs. In addition, this plan adopts the procedures contained in the Workplan.
M ain\D:AEnvironmenta1\LN CV\10152007.wpd 58
