WZ1 INC <br /> All underground piping associated with the concrete tank will be either removed or <br /> cleaned in place and filled with inert material The concrete tank will be cleaned and all <br /> liquid removed into 55-gallon barrels LEL and OVM instruments will be utilized during <br /> removal of the liquid from the tank to insure Health and Safety of the workers This <br /> liquid will be sampled for BTEX, TPH-G, TPH-D, and for chlorinated hydrocarbons by a <br /> California State certified laboratory Liquid disposal options (industrial sewer versus off- <br /> site disposal facility) will be a function of the analytical results <br /> After removal of all liquid, the tank will have approximately 4 or 5 holes cut in the top by <br /> a concrete saw Clean, dry, fill sand will be placed into the tank until it is completely <br /> backfilled After backfilling, the former tank will have its surface repaired to prevent <br /> rainwater from entering it in the future The rest of the former tank will be left in place <br /> Excavated soil will be screened using field techniques outlined in Appendix IV <br /> Approximately 20 to 25 soil samples will be collected from the clean sidewalls and floor <br /> of the excavation to confirm soil conditions Soil samples will be collected using protocol <br /> outlined in Appendix V Samples will be analyzed for BTEX, TPH-G, TPH-D, chlorinated <br /> hydrocarbons, organic lead and CAM Metals, as appropriate <br /> Excavated soil will be sorted into clean or impacted soil piles Clean soil will be utilized <br /> for landscaping or other uses on site The hydrocarbon impacted soil will be placed on <br /> the existing remediation pad (Exhibit 2) The hydrocarbon impacted soil will be sampled <br /> at the rate specified in the aeration permit issued by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution <br /> Control District (VAD), and as required by the SJCLHD The impacted soil will be <br /> covered with visqueen in accordance with the terms of the aeration permit <br /> The contaminated soil pale characterization will be designed to focus on contamination <br /> previously identified during excavation analytical results <br /> Page 5 <br />
