1 <br /> ' Secuon 3 <br /> ONSPTE Envuonmental Laboratories, Inc Revision 0 <br /> Quahry Assurance Plan January 15, 1946 <br /> Page 4 of S <br /> ONSITE staff taking custody of the samples determines the type of storage and the <br /> ' storage location <br /> Some State agencies or clients may have specific requirements and those specific <br /> ' wnuen requirements will take precedence over this manual <br /> 3 3 2 Checking Incoming Samples <br /> ' The ONSUE staff accepting custody of the samples inspects all sample containers <br /> and transport containers for possible loss of integrity caused by transport, which is <br /> ' documented on the COC Any abnormality is reported immediately to the client <br /> Project Manager Problems may be noted in the receipt of the samples, including <br /> ' > Physical damage of sample container <br /> > Loss of sample due to leakage, damage, or breakage <br /> ' > Improper shipping methods of samples requiring special conditions (e g , <br /> temperature) <br /> > Contamination of the sample <br /> ' > Insufficient, obscured or mussing sample idennfication <br /> 3 3 3 Damaged or Invalid Samples <br /> ' In the event of a damaged or suspect sample container, the Mobile Laboratory <br /> Manager is notified, the sample contents inspected and results recorded on the <br /> COC If the sample is damaged or may be affected by shipment or handling (e g , <br /> ' is received in a cracked bottle) but the test is still to be performed, an Out-of- <br /> Control Event form is completed and analysis may proceed If a sample is <br /> regarded as invalid because of the damage or condition of the container, the client <br /> is noufned and the sample held or discarded <br /> 334 Shipping of Sub-samples <br /> The Mobile Laboratory Manager is responsible for any shipment of samples, for <br /> example, to subcontracting laboratories Samples may be transferred in their <br /> existing container or may be sub-sampled and placed into appropnate shipping <br /> groups and adequate containers The sub-samples are properly and accurately <br /> identified as described in Section 3 3 1 and the requested analysis specified on a <br /> ' copy of the chain-of-custody form by EPA Method number as well as by name <br /> Word 6 0 IoeLsw-3 doe <br />
