WORK PLAN FOR ADDITIONAL <br /> ' SUBSURFACE SITE INVESTIGATION <br /> FOR PETROLEUM HYDROCARBONS <br />' SITE NO. 3 (SITE CODE 1282-124) <br /> PORT OF STOCKTON <br /> Site 3 - Near Port Roads G and 14 <br /> Stockton, San Joaquin County, California <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br />' This report has been prepared by Philip P Ross,R G, at the request of Mr Jay Jahangin,Director <br /> ofEnvironmental and Regulatory Affairs ofthe Port of Stockton(Port) The report documents field <br />' investigation activities and summarizes findings of a subsurface investigation conducted at Site No <br /> 3 near the center of the Port The investigation was conducted at the request of the San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Service, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) to evaluate the lateral <br /> and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination found during an initial subsurface <br /> investigation conducted by the Port in August 1998 The additional subsurface investigation <br /> comprised drilling, installation, and sampling of three groundwater monitoring wells along with a <br />' survey of supply wells in the vicinity to identify potential public or environmental health threats or <br /> impacts that might result from contaminant migration from the site <br />' A work plan for the investigation was subnutted to the PHS/EHD on January 10, 1999 and <br /> approved on February 24, 1999 Preapproval of the costs for the work was received from the <br /> California Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund in April 1999 A well permit for the <br /> investigation was approved by PHS/EHD on May 14, 1999 <br /> 2.0 SITE BACKGROUND <br />' The following sections present the site description and summarize previous site characterization <br /> work Pertinent background information, upon which this section is based, is contained in the <br />' "WorkPlan for Initial Subsurface Investigation,"(Boyajian&Ross,Inc [B&R], 1998a)and"Initial <br /> Subsurface Investigation of Petroleum Hydrocarbons," (B&R, 1998b) <br /> PHILIP P.
