Section No. 7.0
Revision No. 6
Date 611188
Page )4
r;.w
7.0 ANALYTICAL PROCEDURES
Canonie's laboratory employs U.S. EPA-approved methods in the analysis of
environmental samples, or, when required by particular agencies to which the
client is responsible, approved methodologies published by the particular
agency involved. Most of the procedures utilized by Canonie's laboratory are
taken from the following publications:
Test Methods for Evaluating Salid Waste - Physical/Chemical
Methods, SW-846 (3rd Edition, 1486)
Methods for Chemical Analysis of Water & Wastes,
EPA-600/4-79-020
Standard Methods for the Examination of water and Wastewater,
APHA-AWWA-WPCF (16th Edition, 1485)
Additional procedures are received from the clients served by the laboratory
or from state regulatory agencies. Table II list the more common methods
utilized for analysis of soils and water. Also included with each table are
holding times, and the method of analysis. Reporting limit-s can be found
within each analytical method SOP. Regardless of the specific method
detection limit, the actual detection limit will be sample matrix dependent.
If the concentration of a particular sample constituent is so high that it
requires dilution prior to analysis, the resulting reporting limit for that
sample will be raised by the dilution factor. There may be a situation where
prior approval was obtained to analyze the sample twice to obtain the
specified detection limit, but should not be considered standard practice.
Canca ieE7,vi,-o ,mental
