The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately five feet above mean sea level. The Site is relatively flat, except
where it is elevated along the levee roads that form its northern and western boundaries
(Plate 5).
According to the San Joaquin County Community Development Department
(www.co.san-joaquin.ca.us), the Site is zoned AG-40 and AG-80, General Agriculture
with a minimum parcel size of 40 or 80 acres. This zoning designation "is established to
preserve agricultural lands for the continuation of commercial agriculture enterprises."
Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
At least one septic system is currently located on the Site; the system serves the house.
A small restroom located on the western side of the Site may also have a septic system.
Proposed Septic System
No new development is planned for the Site.
On-Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site addresses. One septic permit was identified. The permit, dated
February 1968, was for a new septic system for mobile home (12601 W. Platti). The
system utilized a 1,200-gallon septic tank and two 80-foot leach lines. A domestic well
was depicted on the opposite side of the mobile home. This permit has been included
in Appendix 4.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery
from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have
one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that approximately nine septic
systems per square mile are located in the vicinity of the Site.
The area surrounding the Site consists of agricultural land with occasional rural
residences and agricultural buildings. Old River lies to the immediate north and west of
the Site.
LOGE 20-12 Page 2
