I appreciate the effort. Although most of the issues have been apparently cleared-up in your phone conversations this e-mail may help address the issues you and Rhett discussed. First--the HDP wires are 1/8 inch diameter, and ther are two tubes for the suction-cup lysimeters each tube is 1/8 inch diameter. Second--The address is correct. The City is operating the site as a ground-water recharge facility (hence the need for the work) . Third--We can modify the seal to address your concerns. However we a careful with hydrated grout because we are monitoring in the unsaturated zone, water added during drilling alters our results. I can emplace the grout partly hydrated if that would make you more comfortable. I also can use a different grout mixture and eliminate the #3 sand infil. The sand provides structural support for the grout in very deep boreholes (as much as 600 ft to water) . The depth to water and the depth of the upper grout seal at the proposed site is less than 60 ft and I am not concerned about the weight of the grout shifting the backfill and instruments in the unsaturated zone. Fourth--We did not note a perched water table while drilling the previous hole. The instruments are intended to evaluate the development of a perched water table during artificial recharge. Fifth--Any thing you can do to help us start on time would be greatly appreciated. Dennis said that you could have someone fill-in for you for the inspection.
