I cc: Dennis A _ark/WRD/USGS/DOI@USGS
I
Subject: Phone call from Mike Infurna- San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Inspector I
>-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------I
John,
I just spoke with Mike Infurna (San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Inspector- office 209-468-3454) . He had several questions regarding the
permit to install the Odex well at the Morada lane site.
First-There was a clarification of the diameter of the HDP wires and
LYS tubes- Apparently the permit listed something like 2 1/8" tubes and he
read it as being a single tube 2 1/8" in diameter instead of a count of two
each being 1/8"- This brought up the 2" annular seal question- by
clarifying the diameters and count I believe the question was answered and
situation was taken care of.
Second- The address- A gave him 3024 Morada lane- based on the
address he said the property is owned by the County Flood Control (maybe he
said City Flood Control) either way I believe this is the correct property
as it was on the last permit and plotted up in the proper location
according to the location I described and the map he was viewing.
Third- He seemed concerned that the dry mixture of large grout chips,
fine grout chips and #60 (?) sand would not form a proper seal. I explained
we tremmied it down to depth (the odex casing is one large diameter tremmie
pipe) and the mixture was designed to provide an adequate seal. The large
chips provided volume, the fine chips filled the space and the sand
provided structure. He accepted the explanation but still expressed
concerns that this might not work and the mixture might not hydrate. I
stated that we had other wells that were constructed in this manner and
they appeared to be sealing fine. He seamed to OK with this but was still
skeptical.
Fourth- He was concerned about a perched water table. I told him I
did not recall seeing one on the first hole but was not sure.
Fifth- He is trying to finalize the permit but did not think we would
be able to drill the end of next week. He is booked on the 13, 14, and 15.
He suggested delaying things until the 18. This causes a problem with Santa
Clara- I spent all day notifying everyone we would start on the 18.
Sixth- We need to resend the MFR (Master File Record) with a
completed 3rd Party Billing Section (near the bottom?) It states who they
will send the bill to if the inspections cost more then the prepaid amount.
He did speak with Tony Tovar and Tony told him that would be us.
If there are any questions we should call him.
Rhett
2
