The surface of the unsaturated zone is an approximately 2 feet thick
dark brown topsoil of clayey sand. Beneath this topsoil is a thick sequence of sands and
gravels interbedded with clayey silts, sandy silts, and silty sands. Detailed lithologic
descriptions are contained on the boring logs contained in Appendix B.
4.2 FIRST WATER BEARING ZONE
First ground water was encountered at approximately 43 feet in MW- 48 feet in MW-2,
and 46 feet in,MW-3. Sediments are primarily composed of sands and gravels.
