KLEINFEL[7ER
1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Jonathan, Group retained Kleinfelder to perform a preacquisition site assessment
PSA o£ parcels of property to be known as Harvest Glen Subdivision, Tracy, California.
(PSA) P P p h'
The Kleinfelder report (dated June 27, 1988) indicated that two nearby sites were under
investigation by the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) for chloroform
contamination of the ground water.
Monitoring wells were installed, developed, sampled, and surveyed during the month of
November 1988. The water samples were analyzed by a certified analytical laboratory for
halogenated volatile organics (including chloroform) by EPA Method 601.
No halogenated volatile organics were measured at concentrations above analytical
g g Y
detection limits. Certain constituents of the trihalomethane group of chemicals were
detected in the city water used to construct the monitoring wells. The occurrence of these
constituents may possibly be the result of chlorination of the city water.
Quarterly monitoring of the static-water level elevations is recommended for the
construction of ground water gradient and flow direction maps, because the flow direction
and gradient iMay change. This monitoring should be evaluated to assess if there are any
potential offsite ground water contamination sources upgradient of Harvest Glen. If offsite
ground water contamination exists upgradient of the site, ground water samples should be
collected and analyzed for source specific constituents. At a minimum, yearly ground water
sampling is recommended until the two nearby sites are no longer under investigation, and
ground water, quality is no longer a concern.
156=88-2362 .1
