o Unslotted, clean 4-inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe will be installed from the
? top of the screen to the ground surface using threaded couplings. PVC
cement will not be used in order to prevent possible contaminant
i leaching from the cement. A vented cap will be placed on top of the
S blank casing;
s o A gravel pack consisting of an appropriate sand or gravel will be
J placed in the annulus to a depth 2 feet above the top of the well
screen;
i.
o A 2-3 foot bentonite seal will be emplaced above the gravel pack;
'. o A 2% bentonite cement grout will be emplaced from the top of the ben-
tonite seal to the ground surface;
y
o The well will be completed with a locking standpipe installed below
grade and finally a flush mounted Christy box.
4
o The well will be developed by bailing and/or pumping until the water is
? relativelyfree of sediment. If sur
i .
ging is required for development ,
this method will also be employed;
o A rising head permeability test will be conducted during development elopment in
order to calculate a horizontal permeability for the screened interval.
The details of the well installation will be recorded in the field on the
pre-formatted diagram shown on Plate 10. The well location will be surveyed in
by measurement to landmarks appearing on Chevron's maps for the area.
Soil Disposal
Soil from the borings will be contained in 55 gallon drums. Arrangements
for proper storage of the drums until disposal will be made in consultation with
Chevron and the City of Tracy. These drums will be carefully labeled with a
boring number and a depth interval. Obviously contaminated soil will be removed
for off-site disposal. Samples from each drum of soil which is not obviously
contaminated will be submitted for analysis for oil and grease. Samples will be
submitted to Anatec Laboratories , Inc. of Santa Rosa, California. Standard
JED2/H -g_
