GROUNDWATER GRADIENT
s
The objective of this task is to determine the direction and
J gradient of the
water table. This task will be accomplished by detailed measurement of the
groundwater table on two separate occasions after the water levels have stabi-
lized. In addition, we will obtain any available -water level data from adjacent
:1 sites in order to gain further control on the groundwater contours. Water
levels will be obtained from at least the following wells:
o All observation wells to be installed during this program;
o MW-1, installed by Kennedy/Jenks/Chilton in Oak Court (Plate 2);
o The three remaining wells at the Renown Enterprises Tennis Villa site
to the east of the Alden Park area, if accessible.
s. Oil thickness (if present) and water levels will be measured to the 0.01 foot
# usinga Marine Moisture Control (MMC) electronic interface
probe. These
measurements will be checked in each well at the same time using gasoline and
water indicator pastes. Direct observation of the thickness of floating product
will also be attempted using a clear acrylic bailer. If free oil is present, a
correction will be made for the buoyant effects of a column of oil resting on a
column of water. Water level data will be used to construct a groundwater table
contour map for the site vicinity.
RESIDENTIAL OIL AND GREASE SAMPLES
Although not required by the RW CB we include abri € description of work
to be performed under this task. The objective of this task is to identify
whether residential properties in the vicinity of Alden Park are underlain by
oily soils. To accomplish this objective, we propose to follow a drilling,
sampling and analytical program as described in the following sections.
Drilling and Sampling
Borings would be advanced in approximately 100 residential backyards using a
modification of the technique described in the Probing Program, by our sub-
contractor, HanDriven Sampling Company, under the supervision of-a Dames & Moore
4
Y JED2/H -13-
