E <br /> 1 .0 PURPOSE <br /> 6� <br /> The purpose of this plan is to assign responsibilities, establish <br /> personnel protection standards and mandatory safety procedures, <br /> and provide for contingencies that may arise while operations are <br /> being conducted at the site. <br /> 2.0 APPLICABILITY <br /> r� The provisions of the plan are mandatory for all onsite Dames <br /> & Moore employees engaged in hazardous material management <br /> activities including but not limited to initial site recon- <br /> naissance, preliminary field investigations, mobilization, <br /> project operations, and demobilization. <br /> Contractors shall provide a Health & Safety plan for its employees <br /> r <br /> covering any exposure to hazardous materials and shall complete all <br /> wort, in accordance with that plan. The contractor may choose to <br /> use Dames & Moore Health & Safety Plan as a guide in developing its <br /> > own plan or may choose to adopt Dames & Moore 's plan. In either <br /> case, the contractor shall hold Dames & Moore harmless from, and <br /> indemnify it against , all liability in the case of any injury. <br /> Dames R Moore reserves the right to review and approve the con- <br /> tractor 's plan at any time. <br /> Grossly inadequate H&S precautions on the part of the contractor <br /> or the belief that the contractor 's personnel are or may be exposed <br /> to an immediate health hazard, can be cause for D&M to suspend the <br /> contractor 's site wort: and ask the contractor 's personnel to evacuate <br /> the hazard area. <br /> i <br /> The contractor shall provide its own safety equipment in accordance <br /> with health &. safety plan requirements. The contractor will comply <br /> with all regulations including OSHA 29 CFR 1910. 134 (Respiratory <br /> Protection) . <br /> 3. 0 RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> 3. 1 OFFICE SAFETY COORDINATOR <br /> The Office Safety Coordinator (DSC) generally will not be in- <br /> volved directly in onsite activities. However , the OSC will <br /> provide the following functions in support of the field activities: <br /> I. Maintain an adequate inventory of equipment in good <br /> working order; <br /> F <br /> c 2. Maintain all necessary files and records and see that <br /> copies of appropriate materials are forwarded to the <br /> Firmwide Health and Safety Officer (FWHSO) and the <br /> Western Region Health and Safety Officer (WRHSO) . <br /> - 4 <br />
