Oliphant <br /> Chevron Environmental Management Company <br /> 6001 Bollinger Canyon Road <br /> P.O Box 6012 <br /> San Ramon, CA 94583 <br /> REVIEW—WELL ABANDONMENT WORK PLAN, AL'DEN PARK, TRACY, SAN <br /> JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (Central Valley Water Board) <br /> staff(Staff) received the subject work plan (Work Plan) on 1 October 2019 for the Alden <br /> Park site (Site) in Tracy. The Work Plan was prepared by Arcadis U.S., Inc., (Arcadis), <br /> and submitted on behalf of Chevron Environmental Management Company (Chevron). <br /> The Work Plan was submitted in response to a Staff letter dated 7 August 2019 <br /> requesting that Chevron submit a work plan describing plans and specifications for the <br /> abandonment of the Alden Park groundwater monitoring wells MW-11, MW-12, and <br /> MW-14. The submittal of plans and specifications for groundwater monitoring well <br /> abandonment is required by Monitoring and Reporting Program MRP R5-2019-0903 <br /> (MRP). Staff reviewed the Work Plan and a summary and Staff comments are <br /> presented in this letter. <br /> Work Plan Summary <br /> Prior to commencing any well destruction activities, Arcadis will obtain permits from the <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, notify Underground Services <br /> Alert at least 48 hours in advance, obtain encroachment permits from the City of T racy, <br /> and contract with a third-party utility locating company to identify any underground <br /> utilities. <br /> The three wells will be destroyed using the pressuring grouting method, and in <br /> accordance with California Well Standards Bulletin 74-90 (June 1991) and San Joaquin <br /> County Environmental Health Department Well Standards (San Joaquin County <br /> Ordinance Code Section 9-1115.6 February 2005). The wells destruction process will <br /> be conducted by a California-licensed C57 drilling contractor. <br /> KARL E.
