Chevron - 2 - 4 October 2019
Alden Park
Tracy, San Joaquin County
Each well will be backfilled with neat cement grout and 25 pounds- per- square- inch of
pressure will be applied to the well casing. The grout will be allowed to settle for
approximately 10 minutes. Following the initial pressure test, additional volumes of grout
will be pumped into the well casing to bring the grout level back to the top of the well
casing, and additional pressure tests will be applied accordingly. After the pressure
grouting, the well surface completions will be removed, and the upper 3-feet of material
will be excavated. Neat-cement will be placed in the well casing and allowed to overflow
into the excavation forming a mushroom cap. The remainder of the excavation will be
backfilled to match the surrounding material and grade. Waste material from subsurface
sources generated during well destruction activities will be placed in California
Department of Transportation approved 55-gallon drums. The drums will be labeled and
temporarily stored on-Site pending characterization for disposal at an appropriate
facility.
A summary report describing the well abandonment will be submitted to the Central
Valley Water Board following the completion of field activities.
Staff Comments
Staff concurs with the scope of work described in the Work Plan.
