i
File No. 20-3937-01
June 21, 1996
REVISED PROPOSAL
LIMITED SOIL AND GROUNDWATER ASSESSMENT
PROPOSED SCHAEFFER INDUSTRIES FACILITY
SHAW ROAD (APN # 143-270-041)
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
INTRODUCTION_
We have completed the Phase I Preliminary Environmental Site Assessment
regarding the Shaw Road Site in Stockton, California. In the Phase I, we
recommended that certain testing, sampling and investigation be conducted in
connection with the Site. Our proposal regarding the scope of that work is set
forth herein. It is our opinion that if such testing, sampling, and investigation
indicates that the site is environmentally clean, you will have engaged in a pre-
acquisition site assessment that is the Standard of Practice for this area, and it
would be our recommendation that no further environmental due diligence be
performed.
Kleinfelder is pleased to- present this revised proposal to Schaeffer Industries.
This proposal was developed after,corres4ondence with Mr. David Smith,'using
Kleinfelder's current-ine'rstanding of the site conditions,.-and is a preliminary
understanding of.your desires 'and requirements. We have prepared this proposal
based on information usually requested in a workplan by the San Joaquin County
Public Health Services Department, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
and the State of California Regional Water Quality Control Board Central Valley
Office (RWQCB).
Kleinfelder is committed. to providing a' high level of service to 'its clients,
commensurate with their wants and needs. If a portion of this proposal does not
meet the needs of the client, or if those needs.have changed, Kleinfelder stands
ready to consider appropriate modifications, subject to the standards of care to
which we adhere as professionals. Modifications such as changes in scope,
methodology, scheduling, and contract terms and conditions may result in
changes to the risks assumed by the client, as well as adjustments to our fees. We
look forward to the opportunity to serve you.
i
20-3937-011UP960068 Page I of 10 41996,Kleinfelder, Inc.
KLENFELDER 2825 East Myrtle Street,Stockton,CA 95205-4794 (209)948-1345 (209)948-0621 fax
