EPA INSPECTION REPORT
1 —Failure to determine if wastes generated by the facility are hazardous waste.
Corrective Action:
One 1 gal. can of Aluminum powder and two 1 gallon cans of Turco Vitro-Klene were shipped
offsite to a licensed TSDF on 4120120. See attached Manifest# 000307764DAT, Line items, 1
and 2.
Two WD-40 aerosol cans with missing nozzles were found in the maintenance flammable
cabinet. The cans were placed in the universal waste aerosol can drum and shipped offsite on
4120120. See attached Bill of Lading#218443-20, Line item A. The maintenance supervisor
conducted a short meeting with the employees regarding the proper disposal of aerosol cans. See
attached Training Sign-In sheet.
In the prime line adhesive bonding primer paint booth, the three 1 gallon, open, unlabeled cans
were emptied into the satellite accumulation waste water based primer drum. These cans were
put in place to capture leaks from the mixer pump. Leaks were repaired and the gallon cans were
removed from the area. In the future, maintenance will be notified immediately if there are leaks
from the hoses or mixer pump, and a single 1 gallon can with lid labeled "Hazardous Waste" and
"Empty Daily" will be provided to contain the leak. If the gallon can is used, it will be emptied
on a daily basis until the leak is repaired. See attached Photo 91.
2—Failure to keep hazardous accumulation containers closed.
Corrective Action:
The filter press calve in the open, unlabeled bin was cleaned out and placed into the waste filter
press calve satellite accumulation drum. Employees have been re-instructed to remove the filter
press cake from the bin and place it into the labeled waste filter press cake satellite accumulation
drum immediately after the filter press plates have been opened and cleaned off and not used for
accumulation or storage, See Photos# 2 & 3.
3 —Failure to properly label containers of hazardous waste.
Corrective Action:
The open, unlabeled filter cake bin is used to contain the filter press cake before placing into the
labeled waste filter press cake satellite accumulation drum and is not used for accumulation or
storage. Employees have been re-instructed to remove the filter press calve from the bin and
place it into the waste filter press cake satellite accumulation drum immediately after the filter
press plates have been opened and cleaned off. See Photos#2 & 3.
