44 —Accumulating incompatible waste together.
Corrective Action:
The 5 gallon satellite accumulation waste flammable liquid container in the lab was moved onto
the smaller, yellow secondary containment pallet, separating it from the two 5 gallon satellite
accumulation waste corrosive/oxidizer containers being stored on the larger orange secondary
containment unit. See attached Photos# 4 & 5.
AREAS OF CONCERN
During the inspection of Building I (incorrectly identified as Bldg. 1 in the report), 55-gallon
containers used to accumulate general trash were checked and a solvent odor was detected in two
of the containers indicating that solvent wipes or similar waste were being disposed with the
general trash.
Response:
The supervisor in Bldg, 1 conducted a short meeting reminding employees to dispose of any
solvent contaminated wipes, swabs, PPE, etc. into the solvent wipe cans and not into the general
trash. See attached Training Sign-In sheet.
