Site Health and Safety Plan
ENSAFE RS&H
Stockton Metropolitan Airport, Stockton, California
January 27, 2020
encountered. No additional well pack or well vault will be installed, and the temporary wells will be
sampled as described below.
The field team will use a peristaltic pump to facilitate sample collection; as noted previously, all
sample tubing will be high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and silicon. Groundwater levels will be
measured in each well prior to sampling.
Groundwater samples will be collected in unpreserved laboratory-supplied sample jars and placed in
ice-filled coolers. Field quality control samples (such as duplicates, field blanks, and equipment
blanks) and sampling frequency will be performed as described in the Work Plan. Samples will be
shipped under chain-of-custody to a California-certified laboratory for PFAS analysis as described in
Section 7.
FIELD DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES
To the maximum extent possible, EnSafe will use dedicated and disposable sampling equipment to
avoid the potential for cross-contamination of samples. The dedicated/disposable sampling
equipment will include disposable HDPE and silicon tubing, disposable gloves, and laboratory-supplied
sample bottles. Materials to be avoided due to the potential for PFAS cross contamination are outlined
in the Work Plan. Additional precautions include:
• Liquinox soap is acceptable for use since the Safety Data Sheet does not list fluoro-surfactants
as an ingredient
• Water used for the decontamination of the sampling equipment will be laboratory certified
"PFAS-free" water
• If recycled paper towels are used, then the water level measurements will be collected after
completion of groundwater sampling to avoid potential contamination from materials
containing PFAS
Non-disposable or non-dedicated sampling equipment (e.g., DPT parts, hand shovels, peristaltic
pumps, water level indicators, water quality meters, etc.) will be decontaminated prior to sampling
and between samples. Cleaning of equipment will be performed to prevent cross-contamination
between samples and to maintain a clean working environment for all personnel. All pre-sampling
10
