wood.
Tank Assessment Page
Tank Name/marking: 275 Gal. Snyder Industries. Inc.
Waste Antifreeze Tank
Tank age 192(k)(3): —8 years 8 months old
Remaining service life192(k)(11): at least 5 years
Tank Construction (22 CCR §66265.192(k)):
Shape: Vertical, cylindrical, single-compartment, primary tank. Primary
tank placed within secondary tank, rim of primary tank molded to wrap
over lip of secondary tank, providing an interface resistant to entry of
precipitation. The secondary tank has a blended form octagonal shape.
Orientation 66265.192(k)(1): Vertical tank constructed from high density
linear polyethylene (HDLPE), with a 275 gallon capacity, manufactured by
Snyder Industries, Inc. (SII).
Location (above/below ground): Aboveground storage tank (AST), see
Attachment 1, Figure 1 for site specific location.
Material of construction 66265.192(k)(2)(A): The inner tank is
constructed of a natural color (white) HDLPE resin via rotational molding,
with a wall thickness equal to or greater than ASTM D-1998 standards.
The current use is compatible with manufacturer chemical resistance
recommendations (SG = 1.9 or less).
See manufacturers drawing in Attachment 3.
Thickness and method used to determine 66265.192(k)(2)(B):
According to SII, the tank was designed to ASTM D-1998 standards;
however, its capacity is less than 500 gallons, so the tank is not marked
with the standard. The HDLPE resin tank wall thickness is 0.18 inches
thick (3/16 inch) according to specifications provided by SII. Standard
molding tolerances suggest that dimensions listed on manufacturer
drawings may vary +/- 3%.
There was no obvious means of measuring tank wall thickness that do not
involve destructive testing. The penetrations into the primary tank were
molded in a fashion that would not allow for wall thickness measurement
using calipers or similar means.
Lining material & thickness (if applicable): Not applicable. The interior
of the primary tank is not lined.
Corrosion Protection equipment 66265.192(k)(5): Not applicable. This
tank is constructed of plastic. The tank is chemically compatible with the
intended contents and generally resistant to corrosion. Ultraviolet-A (UVA)
