KLEINFELDER
File No. 20-3978-01.W23
February 6, 1997
Measurement of Water Levels
In order to assess the groundwater gradient at the time of sampling, water level measurements
will be made in the wells at the beginning of each sampling round prior to purging and
sampling the wells. The depth-to-water will be measured in each well according to the
protocol described in Attachment B, Section B-4.1. The depth-to-water measurements will
then be converted to relative groundwater elevations with respect to mean sea level or a local
benchmark by subtracting them from the surveyed casing elevations.
The resulting groundwater elevations will be contoured to assess the direction of the
groundwater gradient at the time of sampling. This information can then be used to assess
which wells represent upgradient and which wells represent downgradient groundwater
conditions.
Collection of Groundwater Samples
Kleinfelder will collect samples from the installed wells. The wells will be purged and
sampled as described in Attachment B, Section B-4.2. Depending on the results of the
groundwater sampling and analysis, quarterly groundwater sampling may be required by the
San Joaquin County PHS/EHD.
Laboratory Analysis
Each of the soil and water samples selected for quantitative analysis will be submitted under
chain-of-custody control to Sequoia Analytical Services (Sequoia) of Sacramento, California.
Sequoia is certified by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control to perform the
requested analysis.
20-3978-01.W231207PE047 Page 4 of 01997, Kleinfelder, Inc.
