WILLIANIODUBOVSKY ENVIRONMRTAL
Environmental Consulting ♦ Project Management
August 7, 1998
Project 9644
Mr. Fernando Amador
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
304 East Weber Avenue
Stockton, California 95202
SUBJECT: Acme-Stockton Galvanizing Works Site
540 West Scotts Avenue
Stockton, California
Enforceable Agreement Docket Number HSA 90/91-012
WELL ABANDONMENT REQUEST
Dear Mr. Amador ,,
As discussed, we are requesting permission to destroy the three groundwater
monitoring wells at the subject parcel. The wells will be destroyed in accordance
with the general procedures and principles of the June 1991 revisions of the
California Well Standards published by the California Department of Water
Resources. The wells are numbered MW1, MW2 and MW3 and were installed by
others as part of a groundwater investigation. The well casings are 4 inches in
diameter. Two of the wells have been measured to be about 37 feet deep. One
well was measured to be about 17 feet deep and there was no water detected in
the well. It is likely that this shallow well has collapsed or "silted up". No
construction records were available but it will be assumed that this well
completion depth was also about 37 feet. The general site location is shown on
Figure 1 and the locations of the groundwater monitoring wells are shown on
the attached Figure 2.
The procedure to be used in the destruction of the well are:
1. The waterproof steel locking vaults (monitoring well boxes) will
be removed.
3931 Luneman Road. ♦ Placerville, CA 95667 ♦ (530) 621-4394
