540 West Scotts Avenue*ell Destruction • August 4, 1998
Proiect 9644 Page 2
2. A 10 inch hollow stem auger will be used to drill around the PVC
casing and well screen in each well to remove the cement and
bentonite sanitary seal, and the sand filter pack. Each of the
locations will be drilled to at least 40 feet. The drill cuttings will be
observed to determine that the drilling extends beyond any filter
pack.
3. The PVC well will then pulled out of the inside of the hollow
stem auger.
4. Neat cement grout (five sacks of cement to approximately 20
gallons of water) will then be pumped or tremied into each well.
The grout will be placed from the bottom of the well to the top in
order to prevent any mixing of the grout with the groundwater.
5. The tremie pipe or pump hose will be removed and the well
cavity topped off with additional grout.
6. The soil, casing and vault will then be disposed of as construction
debris.
Appropriate permits will obtained to carry out the described well abandonment.
If there is any additional material or data needed or if there are any questions,
please contact us so that we may respond in a timely manner.
