Simpson Paper Company -2- 22 January 1988
The component of the discharge which is most likely to adversely
impact ground water. quality is total dissolved solids (TDS) . The
addition of wastewater from the cogeneration plant now under
construction to the present discharge will increase the TDS.
Disposal of the cogeneration wastewater, with the expected levels
of TDS, may not be suitably achieved by percolation in the
disposal fields. The limited TDS data on water supply and
wastewater at this plant indicates that ground water TDS may have
increased over the past ten years.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call me
at (916) 361-5681. I have enclosed a recent inspection report
for your information.
ROBERT L. NIBLACK
Engineering Geologist
RLN
Enclosure
