Diamond Pet Food Processors of Ripon California,LLC Jarunny 28,2011
Sampling and Analysis Plan Page 8 of 9
7. PROCEDURES
The following section discusses the sampling procedures used for sampling of groundwater. Field
Data Sheets and Chain-of-Custody Forms used during sampling are provided in the Appendix.
7.1 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING PROCEDURES
To sample groundwater, the following procedures are followed:
The static elevation of water standing in the well is taken using the electronic water level
indicator. Water level measurements are collected from the measuring point (the top of casing).
The depth of water is then recorded on the Field Data Sheets.
The well is purged as described above until field parameters stabilize or until three water volumes
are removed. Shallow wells are purged at approximately two gallons per minute (gpm) and
deeper wells are purged at eight to nine gpm.
During the purging process, field parameters are analyzed for temperature, pH, specific
conductivity, and turbidity. All field parameter measurements are recorded on Field Data Sheets,
including the time of the measurements and approximate volume purged at the time of
measurements (Appendix).
Once field parameters stabilize within 10% of the previous reading or three well volumes are
removed, samples are collected from the pump outlet, labeled, and placed in an ice chest.
Samples are delivered to a licensed California-certified environmental testing laboratory
(currently BC Laboratory of Bakersfield, California)and are accompanied by Chain of Custody
documentation.
The electronic well sounder and all water testing equipment will be decontaminated between
testing locations using an A]conox soap wash, a tap water rinse, and a deionized water rinse. The
pumps, drop pipe, and sampling elbows are dedicated to each monitoring point, and do not
require decontamination (Appendix).
010107.01 Lawrence S Associates
Fi':ICLIENTSIDiamond Pel Foods101(1107.01-Grroundn,ater AlonilorisgIGiomidmaler Aloniloringl20101Sanpling and Analysis Plan.doac
