In addition, data verification and validation were conducted to assess the laboratory's performance in meeting the quality objectives identified in the QAPP (e.g., reporting limits and control limits) and performance-based criteria specified in the analytical methods. QA objectives ' for measurement data were provided by STL and are listed in Appendix D. Data validation was performed by the Kennedy/Jenks' project staff. 4.3 Laboratory QA/QC All analyses were performed consistent with STL's quality assurance program. When applicable ' to the test method, method blank results have been reported with each analytical test. Surrogate recoveries have been reported for all applicable analyses. Other quality control analyses performed include Laboratory Control Spike/Laboratory Control Spike Duplicate (LCS/LCSD); Matrix Spike/Matrix Spike Duplicate (MS/MSD); Relative Percent Difference (RPD); and ' laboratory blank tests. The quality control data was reviewed against data validation parameters (control limits) ' provided by STL. The data was found to be fully usable. The following is a list of the exceptions to the data validation parameters as summarized in Tables 3 and 4: Surrogate recoveries were outside control limits due to matrix interference. Some of the surrogate recoveries were not obtained because the extract was diluted for analysis due to highly concentrated samples (these compounds were flagged with a "D"). Matrix spike and matrix spike duplicate recoveries were outside acceptable limits. Some of the matrix spike recoveries were not obtained because the extract was diluted. Some of the ' analytes present in the original sample in the MS/MSD were four times greater than the matrix spike concentrations. In these instances, the control limits were not applicable. • Some of the RPD values were outside the acceptable limits. • Some of the sample quantities were insufficient to perform matrix spike and matrix spike duplicate. Consequently, the LCS was performed in duplicate for QC purposes. • The upper control criterion was exceeded in some analytes. The errors associated with the elevated recoveries equate to a high bias; therefore, sample data has not been significantly affected.
