Alaniz, John
From: Alaniz, John
Sent: Tuesday, March 24, 2020 1:11 PM
To: np.cutterlumberproducts@gmail.com'
Subject: RE: HW CHECKLIST
Nick,
I cannot not reach out to third party contractors (ie labs) unless I am with the facility. You are going to have to forward
this information to them or set up a cc with all of us in the chain. The barium sulfate question is what you are going to
have to email the paint company to find out-if you want to go that route. Would it be more helpful if I explained it over
the phone?
Thank You,
John
From: np.cutterlumberproducts@gmail.com [mailto:np.cutterlumberproducts@gmail.com]
Sent:Tuesday, March 24, 2020 12:49 PM
To:Alaniz,John <jalanizl@sjgov.org>
Subject: RE: HW CHECKLIST
John,
What I sent is what I received.
I would reach out to the lab for the below questions since none of this information below was originally requested and
we do not understand
Your request-They would.
From:Alaniz,John <jalanizl@sigov.or >
Sent:Tuesday, March 24, 2020 12:24 PM
To: 'np.cutterlumberproducts@gmail.com' <np.cutterlumberproducts@gmail.com>
Subject: RE: HW CHECKLIST
HI Nick,
There are a couple of questions/comments I have:
1) 1 did not see any quality control data with the results. Did the lab include them in the report?
2) There are three primary thresholds we look at for metal analysis: TTLC, STLC, and TCLP.
The TTLC for Barium is 10,000, mg/kg . The STLC(California) and TCLP (Federal) are both set at 100 mg/I. If the
Barium levels exceed any test, then it becomes hazardous.
The level to determine if a STLC or TCLP needs to be run is based on their dilution factors of their perspective tests-
10X for STLC and 20X for TCLP. The TTLC results for Barium were high enough where both the TCLP and STLC would
need to be run for the full determination.
3) There is an exclusion for Barium Sulfate. Do you know if Barium Sulfate is in the paint? It does not say in the
SDSs you sent me.
Thank You,
John Alaniz
i
