4 INITIAL GROUND WATER SAMPLING
The initial sampling was conducted by DE personnel on May 4,2006. Field Data Sheets
are provided in Appendix A. The following procedure was used for monitoring well
sampling:
• The static depth to ground water was measured in each monitoring well using a
water depth meter;the depth to ground water was recorded on the Field Data
Sheet.
• Monitoring wells were purged and sampled using a Super TwisterTM
submersible pump. Field parameters were taken for pH, Electrical Conductance
(E.C.), Turbidity and Temperature. Wells were purged until field parameters
had stabilized and approximately three water column volumes were removed.
• After monitoring wells were purged, samples were collected for laboratory
analysis.
• Collected samples were placed on ice within coolers and delivered to California
Laboratory Services of Rancho Cordova, California under chain of custody
documentation. Samples were analyzed for monitoring parameters listed in
Table 2.
• As part of the sampling effort a blind field duplicate sample labeled MW-30 was
collected and analyzed for the same parameters as MW-11.
Table 2
Ground Water Sample Analytical Parameters
City of Riverbank Wastewater Treatment Plant
Sample
Parameters Volume Container
pePreservative Hold Time
(mL)
Nitrate as Nitrogen,
Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen 500 Poly HzSOs 28 Days
Totals— IDS, Boron,
Chloride, Calcium,
Magnesium, Potassium, 1000 Poly Nitric Acid 6 Months
Sodium, Sulfate, Total
Alkalin , Hardness
Total ah: 2 x 40mL VOA bottles Not 14 Days
reserved
City of Riverbank Wastewater Treatment Plant Monitoring Well Installation May 2006
DE Project No.:109-06 10 Rev.0
