• • • 2. Sample Handling • • Sample containers will be labeled immediately prior to sample collection. Samples will • be kept cool at all times with cold packs until received by the laboratory. At the time of sampling, each sample will be logged on a chain-of-custody record that will accompany • the sample to the laboratory. Samples that require overnight storage prior to shipping to the laboratory will be • continuously kept cool(4°C). If samples are not immediately delivered to the laboratory, samples will be stored in a secure location to preserve the chain of custody. • • Samples will be transferred to a California-certified laboratory by courier or taken • directly to the laboratory by the sampler. Samples will be delivered to laboratories performing the selected analyses within 24 hours of sample collection. • • C. GROUNDWATER SAMPLE DOCUMENTATION • The following procedures will be used during sampling and analysis to provide • chain-of-custody control during sample handling from collection through delivery. • Sample documentation will include the following: • Field data sheets to document sampling activities in the field. • . Labels to identify individual samples. • Chain-of-custody record sheets for documenting possession and transfer of samples. • . Laboratory analysis request sheets for documenting analyses to be performed. • • Each of the documents listed above is described in the following text. • 1.
