GUSH GEOSCIENC*S
I N C O R P O R A T E D
GEOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
May 26, 2011
2910-29
Mr. Michael Infuma
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street \
Stockton, California 95202-3029 V
Subject: Work Plan for Soil Sampling
Industrial Innovations Property
935 East Scotts Avenue
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Infuma:
Lush Geosciences, Inc. is performing a Phase I Environmental Assessment of the
property located at 935 East Scotts Avenue in Stockton, California(Site). Historical review
indicated that four underground tanks were removed from the Site and that one concrete-
lined sump was abandoned in place. A Closure Letter issued by San Joaquin County Public
Health Services February 28, 1994 indicated that no further work was required at the Site
with respect to the former underground facilities. The Site location is depicted in the
attached Figure 1. A Generalized Site Plan is presented as Figure 2.
Our review of Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps showed that a"paint shop"was located
at the east end of a residential property near the west edge of the northern portion of the
present Site building(Figure 3) in 1917; it was not present as a paint shop after 1948;the
location was within a building which was part of a steel fabrication business by 1952. Since
it is possible, though not necessarily likely, that lead paint was dumped or paint brushes
were cleaned with thinner in or adjacent to the former shop,we have recommended
sampling of shallow soil
We propose to drill three soil borings in the area of the former paint shop. One
would be within the footprint of the former building;two would be in soil areas adjacent to
the west and south of the former shop, in areas where paint or thinner may have impacted
shallow exposed soil. The depth of the borings are not likely to exceed 10 feet. We expect
groundwater to be 35 feet or more below the Site; therefore no groundwater samples are
proposed.
7453 WALNUT ROAD 0 FAIR OAKS,CA 95628 0 (916)961-8380•FAX(916)962-27030 LUSHGEOQMSN.COM
