The block is defined
by Sutter Street to the east, Washington Street to the south, San Joaquin Street to the west, and
Market Street to the north. A parking lot is located south of Washington Street, under an
elevated portion of Highway 4, the cross town highway.
' The site is relatively flat lying with an average elevation of approximately 12 feet above mean
sea level (msl).
' Mormon Slough and McLeod Lake are the surface water bodies nearest the site (Figure 1)
Mormon Slough is located approximately 1,700 feet south of the site. The slough flows from
the east toward the Stockton Deep Water Channel west of the site McLeod Lake is located at
the eastward end of the Stockton Deep Water Channel and is located approximately 1,900 feet
west-northwest of the site No surface water bodies are located within two miles down-gradient
of the site
2.2 SITE GEOLOGY AND HYDROGEOLOGY
2.2.1 Lithology and Stratiemphic Relationshias
Geologic conditions at the site are illustrated on cross sections A-A' and B-B' (Figures 2 and
' 3) Cross section locations are shown on Figure 4. Four litholognc zones are shown on the
cross sections These litholognc zones were defined based on predominant grain size. The zones
are summarized in Table 1
Table 1
Lithologic Zones
Approximate Depth to
' Zone Sediment Description Top of Zone (ft bgs) Thickness (ft)
1 sandy silt (fill) ground surface 0 to 8
' 2 silt and clay ground surface to 8 5 to 36
3 sand with some gravel 13 to 36 10 to >25 5
1 4 silt and clay 29 to 50 >34
' LTR0JEC—rSSANJ0Q\MA1ACTn0NPL 4
