24 February 2009
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0343 `
2.1. PRE-FIELD WORK.TASKS
Site assessment permits will be obtained from the EHD. In addition,an update to the site health and
safety plan presently on-file will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health
Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
Prior to mobilization, the proposed probe boring will be clearly marked and a utility clearance
obtained through Underground Service Alert.
2.2. SOIL COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance two confirmation soil probe borings for collection of soil samples using
direct push technology:
• Boring (P-1), located near wells MW-9 and MW-1/VW-1 (total depth approximately feet
below surface grade [bsg]); to investigate_ the effectiveness of SVE remediation in the
northern former UST area.
• Boring (P-2), located northeast of dual-completed wells MW-2/VW-2 (total depth
approximately 50 feet bsg); to investigate the effectiveness of SVE remediation in the
southern former UST area.
Proposed probe boring locations are presented on Figure 2 and presented in cross section on
Figure 3.
As each boring is advanced, soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals, beginning at 5 feet bsg
and extending the total probe boring depths. Adequate shallow (five feet bsg) soil samples will be
I,F analyzed to evaluate the potential of vapor intrusion at the site. Selected soil samples from each
probe boring will be analyzed by a California Department of Public Health (CDPH)-certified
laboratory for the following constituents:
• TPH-g and total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel (TPH-d) in accordance with
EPA Method 8015M; and
Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes(BTEX)and fuel additives methyl tertiary-
butyl ether (MTBE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-
amyl metbyl ether (TAME), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), and
1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with-EPA Method 8260B.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
