I <br /> WGERE DESGMEf15CON51.1i+1E <br /> 2.0 FIELD INVESTIGATION <br /> 2.1 PERMITS AND NOTIFICATION � <br /> i <br />' A monitor well permit will be obtained from the San Joaquin County EHD for the installation <br /> of monitor well MW-9 and the completion of bore hole BH-13 An encroachment permit will <br />' be obtained from the City of Stockton for drilling in the public nght-of-way As indicated by <br /> Ms. Meays in the 12 January 1996 meeting, Ms Meays will obtain permission from Caltrans <br />' to install monitor well MW-9 on Caltrans property The San Joaquin County EHD, the San <br /> Joaquin County Capital Protects, and Caltrans will be notified prior to the commencement of any <br /> subsurface investigative activities <br /> 2.2 UTILITY CLEARANCE <br /> Underground Service Alert (USA) will be notified at least two working days prior to any <br /> subsurface activities at 1-$00-227-2600 All drilling locations will be marked with white paint <br /> prior to notifying USA USA will notify its member organizations which includes most mayor <br /> subsurface utility providers The individual utility providers will mark the locations of their <br /> underground utilities on the sidewalk and street adjacent to the site <br /> Sampling locations will be cleared of subsurface obstructions by a private utility locating service <br /> prior to the commencement of the sampling activities The subsurface utility locator will use <br /> electromagnetic methods for locating metallic objects in the subsurface <br /> 2.3 PHASE IV INVESTIGATION PROCEDURES <br /> The following sections discuss the technical approach proposed for collecting soil and <br /> Igroundwater samples and the installation of the monitor well. If there are no access restrictions, <br /> the upgradient well will be installed first to minimize the potential for cross-contamination. <br /> 2.3.1 Monitor Well Installation <br /> Monitor well MW-9 will be located on the south side of Washington Street on Caltrans property <br /> (see Figure 1) The monitor well bore hole will be advanced with a hand auger until native <br /> material is encountered and there is little danger of intercepting underground utilities The bore <br /> • hole will be advanced with a truck mounted hollow stem auger ng to approximately 15 ft below <br /> Ithe water table (approximately 60 ft bgs) Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals <br /> LXPROIECTWANJOQ\MAWP 3 <br />
