It is intended to prepare personnel for potential emergencies. This Contingency Plan specifically defines the types of incidents that can be handled by trained LLNL personnel and those that must be mitigated by the Alameda County Fire Department (referred to hereafter as the Fire Department). This is accomplished by classifying the particular incident in accordance with the levels described below in Section 1.2. Note: LLNL has contracted with the Fire Department to provide response capabilities at Site 300. 1.2 Implementation of the Plan This Contingency Plan is designed to minimize hazards to human health or the environment from fires, explosions, or any unplanned sudden or non-sudden release of hazardous waste or hazardous waste constituents waste to the air, soil, or surface water. The provisions of the Plan shall be carried out immediately whenever there is a: • Fire, • Explosion, or • Release of hazardous waste or hazardous waste constituents which could threaten human health or the environment. 1.3 Maintenance of the Plan 1.3.1 Copies of the Contingency Plan A copy of the General Plan and the appropriate Site-specific Plan will be maintained onsite at the WAA and in the WAA Coordinator's files.
