Does LLNL 300 have a process to ensure ammunition that misses the sand-
packed berm (e.g., ammunition that lands outside the shooting range area) is
retrieved and properly managed?
5. Provide the product specification for the frangible bullets, including what metals
are used to replace the lead in these bullets.
6. When the casing and duds from fired ammunition is collected from the paved
asphalt, are any fines (smaller, dusty type material) also collected and .if so, how
are the fines managed?
7. Does LLNL 300 have a process in place to collect fines (smaller, dusty type
material) otherwise generated from the firing of ammunition (e.g., is the area
around the sand-packed berm routinely maintained where fines would tend to
accumulate)?
8. Where does LLNL 300 send its casings and other scrap metal for recycling?
Where does LLNL 300 send its duds and defective ammunition? Please provide i
copies of manifests or other shipping documents for the materials or wastes.
Deadline for Requested Information: 'DTSC requests that within 30 calendar days
from the date of the SOO letter, LLNL 300 provide the information requested above to
DTSC.
