Due to the petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil encountered near the fuel pump island,
appropriate protective measures as determined by a Certified Industrial Hygienist should be applied
during construction activities to ensure public and worker safety. Petroleum hydrocarbon
contaminated soil materials designated for offsite disposal may require additional characterization
depending on facility specific acceptance criteria. Groundwater removed from excavations in areas of
documented or suspected petroleum hydrocarbon contamination should be containerized and
subsequently tested to determine proper disposal options.
If the existing service station building is intended for demolition,lead-based paint and asbestos surveys of
the building are recommended prior to demolition.
Project No 58475-06-70 -11- July 9,2003
