18 August 2000 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 97-0343 <br /> Page 3 of 7 <br /> The primary hazards of each are identified as follows <br /> I Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic <br /> petroleum hydrocarbon-lake odors They are flammable and have low solubility in water <br /> Exposure to these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild eye, <br /> nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous system <br /> Symptoms of exposure at these concentrations include headache, nausea, drowsiness, <br /> dizziness, and loss of coordination Certain components of gasoline(BTE&X etc)are known <br /> or suspected carcinogens <br /> The following additional hazards are expected on site typical work related to facali1y Noise, falling <br /> rods, flying hammer, snapped cables, etc on the backhoe/excavator(if applicable) <br /> 4 0.
